“We only go where we are welcome with open wings,” Director General of Liv Scott O’Neil said during the Nola notice press conference. It’s not the first time he has been said so. Attachment for such an agreement, he argues, is merely an investment in the local economy. “We fill the places on the planes, fill the hotel rooms, fill restaurants and place some world -class Golf,” O’Neil said during the Liv event in Hong Kong earlier this year.
Of course, taxpayers’ funds are assigned to a specific event at all times, citizens who pay taxes are entitled to an explanation. Liv’s funding is similar, though much larger in total, with the money paid to seduce other sports events – as a UFC war – for Luiziana. But the navigation of Livi’s orbit has always been more complicated given the controversy over his financial supporter, Saudi Arabia’s public investment fund and its human rights rights.
Luiziana Governor Jeff Landry was quick to answer questions about state funding by lowering a rival golfi tour – especially when PGA Tour visits New Orleans every April.
“We wanted to try to get something in the city during the summer,” Landry told reporters this week. “We want New Orleans to be a city where people come from January to December.”
Landry called the Bayou Oaks “one of the harshest diamonds that just have to be polished,” and distributed concerns to the Liv’s financial support before complimenting the liv format to hit a special feeling from the most traditional PGA Tour Zurich Classic.
