The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise has quietly made a big impact in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Auction. The five-time champions are bidding for some interesting players at the ongoing event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Chennai Super Kings raised many eyebrows when they bid for young pacer Gurjapneet. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side were eager to sign the fast bowler and showed interest in him after he was involved in a bidding war, first with Lucknow Super Giants and then with Gujarat Titans.

However, they made sure to keep Gurjapneet Singh on their side as they raised the final tally of INR 2.20 crore. This left many wondering about the fast bowler after Chennai Super Kings bid heavily for him and wanted to be part of the tournament squad for the next edition.

A 6’3 left-arm seamer, Gurjapneet is one of the exciting pacers in Indian cricket. Born in Ludhiana, Punjab, the fast bowler made a significant move to Chennai at the age of 17 and has since played all his cricket in Tamil Nadu, representing the state at the highest level.

Gurjapneet Singh served as a net player for the five-time champions in the league and was also part of the build-up of the Indian team as a net player.

Gurjapneet Singh made a big announcement about his debut in Ranji Trophy 2024-25. He wreaked havoc in the Saurashtra batting and took 6 wickets including Cheteshwar Pujara. He recorded figures of 6/22, the best figures in a first-class innings by a Tamil Nadu fast bowler at home since the 2005-06 season.

Gurjapneet Singh picked 13 wickets at an average of 19.69 and a strike rate of 50.30 in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, Gurjapneet oozed class with the ball and made a decent impact for his team. He picked 13 wickets in seven innings at an average of 19.69 and a strike rate of 50.30. With his familiarity with the Chennai wicket, he will be vital for the five-time champions.
