We tested both PXG Xtreme Tour AND Xtreme Tour X and while they share much in common, the performance differences are subtle but significant.

At higher swing speeds, both PXG balls posted strong distance numbers. The Xtreme Tour launched a little lower and stretched a touch farther while the Tour X flew a few feet higher and landed softer.
At medium swing speeds, the total distance was about the same and, at lower speeds, it again showed slightly more reach thanks to its firmer feel and lower driver spin.
Taking food:
- If you tend to generate a lot of top speed, both models will perform well, but the Tour’s flatter flight can squeeze out a few extra yards.
- If you’re an average or slower athlete, the increased launch and higher flight of the Tour X can help you keep problems and keep shots in the air longer.
Off the beaten track: Height and control
The real divide between two PXG balls appear in the iron data. The Xtreme Tour consistently launched higher and landed steeper. If you are playing a course with firm greens, this will be a real benefit. The Tour X flew flatter and rolled a bit more, offering slightly more total distance but less stopping power.
For most golfers, it’s a matter of trajectory preference:
- TOURNAMENTS = higher flight, more carry, softer landings
- The X tournament = lower, more penetrating flight with a stronger feel
About green: Both believable, neither extreme
Greenside testing showed that both PXG balls produce average spin for the category. The Tour X offered more touch on shorter shots while the Tour rolled a bit more in the full wedge.
