What’s it like caddying for Peyton Manning? His former WR has a history

Last month, former NFL wide receiver Brandon Stokley caddied for his former quarterback, Peyton Manningat the BMW Pro-Am Championship in Colorado.

Here’s hoping it goes better than last time.

Stokley, a two-time Super Bowl champion, was a guest on the latest episode of GOLF’s Subpar Podcast, which was recorded before the BMW Championship kicked off on August 22. In the episode they talked about his next cycle for Manning and also his initial caddy gig with him, which was a few years ago, back at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

“I’ve never stacked so many bunkers in my life,” Stokley said on the podcast. “The weather was absolutely terrible. It felt like I was playing receiver for him. He was yelling at me like every other hole to grab my rain gear, where’s my umbrella, and then all of a sudden the sun would come out, he was throwing the rain gear. I’m 50-70 meters behind trying to collect everything. I think it was (Phil) Mickelson behind us, and I don’t know how to stack the bunkers right. I’m like, Oh my god, Mickelson is going to yell at me; I am not describing this properly. Peyton is yelling at me for the umbrella. It was a complete disaster.”

On the last day they played Pebble Beach Golf Linksand Stokley had a message for his friend and former quarterback.

“I told him on the last day, ‘If you go into another damn bunker, I’m out, I’m out, I’m done, I’m done,'” he said. “I was tired of stacking bunkers.”

Although there is a chance that Stokley was overdoing the week? Subpar co-host Colt Knost texted Manning before the podcast to ask what Stokley had to say about him.

“He’s going to throw me under the bus for hitting all those bunkers,” Manning told him.
