Some of the most entertaining golf debates are unclear issues of thought.
Who would win a match between Ben Hogan to his prime minister and Tiger Woods At its peak? Is national golf ties better than Shinnecock Hills, or vice versa? What would the average amateur golf play in a We open course?
Indeed, this last question has an answer. It comes from people who run the event.
Over the years, the USA has rejected many ways to introduce the challenges of the National Championship to the Layperson’s perspective. In 2010, to quote only one example, a famous studied television walk was arranged at Pebble Beach Golf Links before this year’s US Open. The goal was for the players to try to break 100. In the fourth presented, Mark Wahlberg He was the only player who scored in doubles. He shot 97. Playing in the same group, Hockey God Wayne Gretzky Triple-Bogey of the 18th in Post 100, while the winning quarterback of the Super Bowl Drew Brees withdrew with a 102.
The point was simple. Pro Tour play a game with which the rest of us are unknown. And yet, a single round that includes a celebrity actor and a couple of great -name athletes does not qualify as a scientific study. It doesn’t tell us much about how our games would pass. There are best ways to go down to a number, and the USA has come up with one.
While another season of the big champion begins at a full activity, the steering body is again Rotation of a digital tool that she first discovered in 2024. It’S’S’S A CALCULATION WITH RESPONSIBLE CLICK YOU USE Handicap and course data to generate a “target result” in each of the 15 USGA championships. A target result is defined as the result you would shoot if you were to play in your handicap.
USGA numbers are still collecting data on some of the championship courses of this year. When that information is ready, all countries will be posted on a single landing page.
For now, you can check your “target score” for three of the big events: 2025 US Open Womenwhich is taking place this week at Erin Hills in Wisconsin; 2025 US Openwhich will be held at the Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburgh from June 12-15; AND US Senior Openwhich will be held at the Broadmoor Golf Club in Colorado from June 26-29.
Just click on those corresponding links, enter your handicap index and the system will return you with a result. To give you an example, if you enter 14.2 (this is the average handicap of a male golf player in the JB) in the Oakmont connection, you get a target result 97. Not terrible. But it will not win an open US.
For all the wonderful system skills, there is one thing it cannot do. Cannot account for tour pressure – the clumsy feeling that we would all certainly get if we were to rise paired with, say, Scottie Scheffler or Rory Mcilroy in the first Tee in Oakmont on June 12.
Which one raises another question: How many strokes will you need to add to this?
