It is an explosion! After two days in Ryder cupEuropeans are pouring it, leading 11.5 to 4.5 and entering Sunday matches into a single single 2.5 points (or two wins and one half) away from holding the Ryder Cup. It was a strange, wild, tense day in betarisso let’s start the conversation right there
1 Did a row “passed the crowds in Bethpage on Saturday?
James Colgan, the editor of news and features (@Jamescolgan26) :: Yes, they did. But, I don’t know, I’m not THAT Bored of this? The energy and perseverance of this event is most of what makes it so special. The chaos of an active audience (and occasionally antagonizing) is extraordinary and extremely unique. As with everything else in life, some losers get things too far. I would rather prefer a Ryder cup that sounds like a rock concert rather than a church service.
Dylan Dothier, old writer (@dylan_Dethier) :: Luke Donald articulated him well at his press conference after the round, when he pursued both categories of fans crossing the line. The first is making noise while players are actually hitting their goal. The second is becoming personal. Very intimate a setting for that kind of items; If you are screaming for a player’s family while that player and their family are there? This becomes very fast. So, yes, there were a number of cases of line intersection and there was a whole group of people in the crowd that are plunging into that item. But a large part of the atmosphere was really… quite wonderful? It’s a sport! Whenever fans went more to Europeans, Europeans did more wonderful things.
Sean Zak, elderly writer (@sean_zak) :: I feel like Gents you covered well. What I was amazed is how infectious those three words became today: F -k you, Rory. I’ve heard them hundreds of times.
2. Who is responsible for the predominance of the euro? There are no repeated answers!
Colgan: Maybe the best question is: Who is not? I will go with Rory Mcilroy, who has been invincible, absolutely terrible and completely full of life. For my money, Rory’s Ryder Cup shows will become a large part of his steady image as a golf player – and this week, well, he added a very memorable chapter.
alacrity: Tommy Fleetwood. He is 4-0-0, for one thing. His vibes are immaculate. He is so universally loved that even American fans had a difficult time rooting against him. He won the FedEx Cup a month ago and just stays winning.
ZAK: Lemme go with David Garland, Luke Donald and Doto Molinari. Together they seem to have all involved in the attention of the team Europe. Garland is a tall PD staff on the PD World Tour with whom every player has a strong relationship with him. He is a back room boy with whom everyone seems to talk in the moments before the matches. Then there are boys who get more loans, like Donald for his captain and the Molinar for his statistical mind. All part of the whole package.
3. Who blames her for American debut? The same rules!
Colgan: Lawnmowers! The course setting is supposed to be a great advantage to have a Ryder cup at home. In a way, the Americans made him feel the opposite. The absence of Bethpage True Rough turned the course into a setting competition … and Americans were not ready for a setting competition.
alacrity: Europeans! They made an absolute load of birds. Look, this will be a two-year conversation and there are many more answers. But it has been extraordinary to see how well these Europeans have played. Statistics suggest that they have made a bacon-and the hell vessels from these matches, too. It’s been a master class.
ZAK: It feels free to single out Scottie Scheffler, but I am adhering to the rules. The biggest player on earth has played like… the number 30 player in the world. This change is all when you are sent every session and Rahm, Fleetwood and Mcilroy are foreheads.
4. What is Sunday’s best matching match?
Colgan: Cam Young VS Justin Rose, and not only because it can be the only match that takes place before the cup is more or less set. Young has been the only bright country for Americans this week; Rose has been a surprise for the euro (remember when he was a wonderless wonder Two years ago in Rome?). Young will not return the ryder Cup wave, but he can send a big message with that beginning.
alacrity: Rory Mcilroy Vs Scottie Scheffler. This has been the season of Rory and Scottie. Rory won in Pebble, at TPC Sawgrass, in Augusta, in Ireland – and now in a Ryder cup. Scottie essentially won everything else, a half dozen events in all including two degrees. But now Mcilroy’s 3-0-1 in this Ryder Cup and Scheffler is an unimaginable 0-4-0. Forget the overall result; They will both love that bad.
ZAK: I think Xander Schauffle vs Jon Rahm is going 18 holes. And I think it will be delicious all the time.
5. What is the end result?
Colgan: 21.5-7.5. The road ends with one obstacle, and Americans suddenly ask if a “new vision” for leading Ryder Cup involves the overthrow of all things.
alacrity: (Whispers) Many left golf, gang. If Sh.BA can simply … EHH, never worry. It won’t happen. But I think Team USA will feel better at the friendly limits of individual competition and win single Sundays 7.5-4.5 to give us a 16-12-a much closer result than ever felt.
ZAK: 18-10, and you know what this means. A complete cleansing with 5 sessions for the team Europe.
