What Toprak Razgatlioglu ‘couldn’t understand’ about Jack Miller after trailing him at MotoGP test

Torak Razgatlioglu can look to some helpful reference points as he begins his first MotoGP season. The first and most obvious is Pramac’s teammate Jack Miller.

In Thailand’s season opener, Miller He will become the second active driver after Marc Marquez to hit 200 in the premier class. He has won four of his 199 races so far and scored 22 podiums.

Miller has ridden at the highest level for four different manufacturers – Honda, Ducati, KTM and now Yamaha. Razgatlioglu It took some getting used to after we made the jump from Superbikes.

One of the fastest riders in MotoGP, Fabio Quattararo is riding the M1 in factory livery. Meanwhile, legend Andrea Dovizioso He has been assisting Razgatlioglu as part of his Yamaha testing role.

Toprak Razgatlioglu did not know how Jack Miller is so good in long corners

Razgatlioglu shared the track with all his competitors for the first time at the Sepang test this week. As he was the ultimate measure, he naturally sought out world champion Marc Marquez.

But Razgatlioglu also followed Miller on the third day of the race, when Yamaha used reduced power.. The Australian’s pace touched him, especially in the long corners.

Sepang is a circuit that certainly highlights such a weakness, especially in turns one and two and the high-speed five/six complex.

Incredibly honest, Razgatlioglu says he simply doesn’t know how to approach those turns.

“With the new tires, I followed Miller to understand the behavior in the corners,” said Razgatlioglu. “It’s very strong in long corners.

“On the other hand, it works very well on braking. I’m strong on braking and I can stop the bike well.”

“The problem is I can’t carry any speed in the long corners so I’m still struggling to understand how to take them.

“I also need to learn how to use the brakes better. I need more time.”

‘Depressed’ Toprak Razgatlioglu should be given the time he needs.

Although Yamaha’s Sepang mileage was limited by the mysterious engine issue that forced him out of day two, Razgatlioglu was at least able to take part in last week’s eclipse. He also took part in a post-season test in Valencia in November.

There are two more days of testing at Buriram this month, and Razgatlioglu looks to be taking every lap he can get. Given the scale of the challenge, judgment should be withheld in the episode until the end of the first season.

Razgatlioglu admitted that he felt ‘stressed’ Live because there is a lot to think about. The challenges are cognitive and mechanical.

If Quattro’s expected move to Honda goes through, then Razgatlioglu will be a contender for the 2027 Yamaha factory seat. But he couldn’t let that be at the forefront of his mind.
