What Irons is Scottie Scheffler playing?

If there’s one thing Scottie Scheffler doesn’t change often, it’s his irons. While some players rotate gear throughout the season, Scheffler’s setup has remained remarkably consistent over the years.

Scottie Scheffler’s iron setup

As of 2025, Scheffler plays a handy Srixon Z U85 iron for his long irons (3 and sometimes 4 irons). He pairs it with TaylorMade P·7TW blades from 5-iron to pitching wedge.

This combination combines a forgiving, higher release tool with one of the most traditional blade sets on the PGA Tour. The P·7TW was originally designed for Tiger Woods. It provides the precise feedback that Scheffler prefers in his marked clubs.

The Z U85 gives him a reliable option off the tee or on long par-4s when needed.

The numbers behind his iron game

The results speak for themselves. Scheffler currently ranks first on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained Approach and Proximity to the Hole (33 feet, 4 inches). He also hits 71.39 percent of the greens in regulation, placing him eighth overall.

From 150 to 175 yards, Scheffler ranks second on Tour with an average close of just 23 feet, 6 inches; from over 200 meters, he ranks fifth. His iron game is the basis of why he has been the best golfer in the world for most of the last two seasons.
