Lamont Roach has used a cryptic message on X to remind its users that his earlier predictions about obtaining a world title come true at 140, after being left high and dry by Gervonta Davis.
Roach (25-1-2, 10 food) is given the opportunity to show off Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz (28-3-1, 18 COs) on Amazon on December 6. Prime video Ppv. The event is staged in the Frost Bank Center, San Antonio, Texas.
Lessons from Rolly’s beat
Lamont, 30, is optimistic at the moment, but he may be crying crocodile tears as Cruz beat him on March 30, 2024, the way he did Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero. He took Rolly apart and knocked the living daylights out of him in an eight-round. If Roach loses this battle, it is back to square one for him. He would return to 135 with a loss and would not be in an ideal position to fight for another world title.
Roach’s prophecy comes true
Just remember the shit I told you … it comes true

If Roach decreases the WBC-Tus-Tus Band of ‘Pitbull’, he will have the option to fight the winner of the 22nd battle between the WBC 140-Pond Champion Subriel Matias and Dalton Smith or move back to 135 to challenge Shakur Stevenson for his WBC title. Stevenson has already said he will face him after fighting Theofimo Lopez against his WBC 140-pound band in early 2026.
Apart from a dubious 12 round defeat, a defeat against ‘Mexican Loma’ Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela last year in May, ‘Pitbull’ looked impressive and won his last two fights against Angel Fierero and Omar Salcido, two hits. If Cruz shows the same form he did against Rolly, it will be a long night for Roach.
Roach is likely to try to box out Cruz like ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela did because he doesn’t have the punching power or the inside of the game to suit him. He has that Shakur-Esque three feet back that he uses to escape the pressure. Still, Roach prefers to come forward to a high guard and throw poor support with its amateur, point-point style.
