San Francisco – If you walk like John Daly and talks as John gaveIs John Dary? Not necessarily. May be John Daly II.
The son of the great winner twice is in San Francisco This week, where he is going nice in US AMATOR CHAMPIONSH. After doing it through the hit game and in the 64th round, young Daly defeated his friend, ClayComb of the Bowling Green, this, 1 in his first match at the Olympic Club on Wednesday. He did so with a combination of extraordinary driving and dead eyes that called his old man to his prime minister.
“I felt like I hit him well,” Daly II said. “I made some good blows and kept them in the game.”
Like his father, Daly, 21, plays collegial golf in his state at the University of Arkansas. Also as the elderly Daly road when, it has a strong construction and caterpillar for children growing up on the upper lip.
But men are not copies of each other’s carbon. Even when the apple does not fall away from the tree, it is not difficult to say to both. Daly II, for example, has a compact backwardness, not a ankle pedestrian, and while he excavates the long ball, he says his syllable and his mentality does not owe his DNA.
“I feel like this is just what you have to do these days,” he said. “Everybody hit him so far.”
Other golf -related lessons come directly from his father. Take this type on how to treat the pressure. “Just have fun. If you just let yourself have fun, the nerves disappear.” Or the medicine when your piece goes bad. “Just hit a fried left herd.”
There are, of course, to be the son of a pro -famous tour, but also tedious obstacles. Daly II realizes that he cannot escape comparisons. The same questions have been asked constantly. When they were again on Wednesday, his answer had the ring of something he had sounded many times before.
“He has two degrees and I don’t do it,” he said. “I’m just trying to be the best version of myself.”
This version has some of his victories. One was in the challenge of 2021 PNC (ok, yes, he was paired with Daly Sr.). Another came to the southern amateur last month, which won him a place at the Olympic Club this week.
If he can stay invincible on the late Sunday (this is five more matches, if you are keeping the result at home), Daly II will score the biggest W of his new career.
But this is not what he was thinking Wednesday afternoon.
“I’ll go to the closet room and maybe get into a hot tub,” he said.
Before that, he planned to call his father.
