West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd has reportedly turned down a loan move to an unnamed Bundesliga club.
The Hammers, who recorded their first win of the season against Crystal Palace on Saturday, have had a busy summer with the arrival of several new faces looking to rebuild Julen Lopetegui’s squad.
The London Stadium complex will be occupied in the final days of the window with entries and exits.
Aguerd rejects the move to the Bundesliga
The Hammers want to sign Paris Saint Germain midfielder Carlos Soler before Friday’s deadline but are reportedly focusing on raising funds before more signings are made.
West Ham skipper Kurt Zouma, believed to be one of the club’s highest earners, is set to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Orobah after a move to the United Arab Emirates fell through at the start of summer after a failed medical visit.
Zouma’s departure will mean a reduction in the wage bill, with the Hammers also thought to want to move on to Aguerd and the guardian have reported that the Morocco international has turned down a loan deal at an unnamed Bundesliga club.
The report adds that the deal would have been a loan with an option to buy, but the 28-year-old’s wages, believed to be around £90,000-a-week, are making the sale difficult.
Aguerd, who arrived from French side Rennes for £28m two years ago, was not in the matchday squad for the Palace game and is also believed to have attracted interest from the Middle East.
West Ham have made defensive reinforcements this summer with the arrivals of Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo, but there is no guarantee they can push Aguerd forward.
The Moroccan has made 58 appearances for the club and was part of the team that won the Conference Europa League under David Moyes, but his days at the London Stadium look numbered.
