West Ham ready to sell 54 times as an international, the Man City youngster lined up as a substitute

West Ham star Lucas Paqueta could be on the verge of a January return to Brazil, according to reports.

Paqueta arrived at the London Stadium for 36.5 million pounds, plus add-ons (for BBC Sports) in the summer of 2022 and quickly established himself as a key player.

The 54-time Brazil international has registered 15 goals and 14 assists in 97 appearances in all competitions so far, including one goal and four assists. West Ham win the 2023 UEFA Conference League.

But this season, Paqueta’s form has dipped, with fans frustrated by a series of lethargic performances.

This is unsurprising as the 27-year-old is currently fighting gambling charges that could even see him banned from football for life if he pleads guilty.

With his best form behind him and West Ham needing to raise funds after a heavy summer of spending, Paqueta may be a prime candidate for the club to sell next January.

In fact, according to The Sunthe Brazilian Botafogo – currently top of the Serie A table – is making an offer for Paqueta.

West Ham are also understood to be showing a real interest Man City young James McAtee.

McAtee enjoyed two fine seasons on loan at Sheffield United but has played just 311 minutes in all competitions this campaign, with Guardiola giving him just one minute in the Premier League.

The England youth international could be available for £20m in January and, if he joins, West Ham could be comfortable sanctioning Paqueta’s exit.

West Ham currently sit 14th in the Premier League table after a difficult first eleven games under Julen Lopetegui.

However, the Hammers are just seven points off third place in a tight table, traveling to Newcastle United in their first game after the international break.
