West Ham looking at a major update in defense with a movement for winter

West Ham United is preparing for a significant revision of the squad this summer, as Manager Graham Potter tries to rebuild after a challenging Premier League campaign.

Currently, sitting 15th at the table, Hammers have struggled this season, especially under the former director Julen Lopetegui, who was sacked in the middle of the season.

The former Brighton head took over, and while the side has improved, it is said that Potter plans important reinforcements before next season.

Mavropanos established by departure as West Ham Eye de Winter

One of the key areas of focus in the reconstruction of West Ham is the defense. According to The mirror (Printed edition on March 9), the club is ready to separate from the Greek forms of Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Mavropanos, who joined Stuttgart in August 2023 for 25 million euros, has supported a difficult spell in East London. Despite being hired until 2028, it has struggled to cease as a reliable presence in the bottom line.

This season has made 25 appearances in all competitions, including 16 beginnings of the Premier League, but Incoherent actions have questioned their long -term future. Reports are now suggesting that you could go out in search of a new start.

Of winter seen as an important update

The report claims that the Hammers have already aligned a possible replacement, with the winter koni of Emerging Genoa as a priority goal for the summer.

The Belgian center initially joined Genoa on Juventus before making the permanent change for 8 million euros last summer.

At just 22 years old, De Winter has gained valuable experience in Series A and formerly presented in the Champions League with Juventus. Known for its composition, ball play capacity and tactical consciousness, it adapts to the profile of a modern defender appropriate to the potter system.

This season, De Winter has made 17 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals, although the part of the campaign has not disappeared due to an injury to an hamstrock. His ability to read the game and build a game from the back makes it an attractive perspective for West Ham’s defensive restructuring.

If West Ham successfully complete Winter’s signature as long as he went from Mavropanos, would be a major update.

The strengthening of the bottom line is a priority, as the hammers have the aim of recovering -in a disappointing season and promoting the competition regularly in European football.

With Potter at the helm, a remodeled defense could provide the foundations for such a necessary resurgence next season.
