West Ham linked with January move for in-form Euro 2024 winning striker

West Ham United are reportedly interested in bringing Spanish striker Ayoze Perez to the Premier League.

The Hammers thrashed newly promoted Ipswich Town 4-1 on Saturday.

However, that tally accounts for half of their wins and 40% of their Premier League goals so far this season, ranking 12th after a poor start under Julen Lopetegui.

While there are defensive issues that need to be sorted out at the London Stadium, West Ham have been marred by some strong attacking performances ahead of the Ipswich win.

It is clear that, even after this result, something has to change in the final third for Lopetegui to be a success.

And according to the Spanish channel Fichajes (via Football fancast), West Ham have focused their attention on Ayoze Pérez.

Perez, of course, will be a familiar name to fans in England following his spells at Newcastle United and Leicester City, which saw him produce 63 goals and 29 assists in a combined 309 appearances in all competitions.

Now 31, Pérez returned to Spain with Real Betis in the summer of 2022, registering 15 goals and four assists in 59 appearances in all competitions.

Perez made one appearance for Spain’s Euro 2024-winning side in the summer, coming on as a late substitute against Italy, before joining Villarreal.

The forward, who can play as a winger, striker or attacking midfielder, has enjoyed a strong start to life for the Yellow Submarine, scoring six goals in seven La Liga games this season.

Perez, who scored three goals and provided four assists in 12 appearances against the Hammers during his time in English football, would not come cheap, with his contract at Villarreal running until the summer of 2028.
