West Ham are in talks to sign Paulo Fonseca as manager

Paulo Fonseca has been linked with a move to West Ham.

West Ham United have reportedly held talks to sign former AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca now that he is available.

The Hammers have just sacked Julen Lopetegui after a poor first half of the season, while Fonseca now finds himself out of a job after being recently shown the door by Milan.

However, the experienced Portuguese tactician remains highly regarded in the game, and he was indeed on the West Ham list in the summer before hiring Lopetegui, according to a report from Football TBR.

Lopetegui failed miserably at the London Stadium, but one imagines Fonseca could be a promising date, even if he doesn’t currently look the favourite.

West Ham eyeing impressive double strike at Chelsea!

TBR Football claim that former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter still looks the most likely candidate to land the West Ham job, but it will be interesting to see how this saga with Fonseca plays out.

Paulo Fonseca has a strong CV, but is he the man for West Ham?

Fonseca has won nine trophies throughout his career, having had plenty of success during his time at Shakhtar Donetsk in particular.

The 51-year-old won three league titles there, but of course that won’t necessarily translate into success in the Premier League.

The Milan job seemed a little over the top for Fonseca, but perhaps a mid-table side like West Ham could be the sort of role that suits him well.

Potter, on the other hand, is more proven in English football after doing a very impressive job during his time in charge at Brighton.

It didn’t work out well for Potter at Chelsea, but then again a mid-table side like WHUFC might be more of his level, so it will be interesting to see if he finally gets back into the game.
