We’ll punch through Haney’s guard in Riyadh

Brian Norman Sr. says his son, WBO 147-lb champion Brian Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs) will punch through Devin Haney’s guard, and he’s not going to be able to go 12 rounds without getting caught in their bout on Saturday night, Nov. 22 at the ANB Arena in Riyadh.

Norman Jr. says that Haney (32-0, 16 KOs) keeps his head on the line and can be found with shots. He says the reputation he has for having “elite feet” came mainly from his last fight against Jose Ramirez on May 2, 2025. Even in that fight he was hit with punches from Ramirez.

Norman Jr. chip on his shoulder

Devin’s confidence annoyed both Normans, who felt he had to enter the fight with self-doubt. He didn’t show it, and he downplayed Norman Jr’s entire resume. He openly considers himself an e-mail champion because of how he earned his WBO belt by being elevated rather than winning it inside the ring.

As such, Norman Jr. Going into the fight with a chip on his shoulder on Saturday, he feels he has to prove himself by destroying Haney and looking like gold.

Punch through the guard

“Against Ramirez, he ran around the ring. When Ramirez hit, he hit (Haney). I told Bill to fix that s***. It doesn’t matter because we’re hitting through the guard,” Brian Norman Sr. said. MillCity Boxing about his plans for his son, WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr., to defeat Devin Haney.

It’s going to be tough for Norman Jr. to punch through Haney’s guard if he’s going to be on the move all night and not allow him opportunities to land. Devin’s recent opponents, Ramirez and Regis Prograis, were unable to land because he was on the move the entire fight.

The only reason Ryan Garcia had moments of success was because he initially hurt himself in the first round. After that, Haney wasn’t at 100% and couldn’t take some of the punches Ryan took later in the match.

Prediction: Haney goes to sleep

“They say he (Devin) has elite feet. His elite feet were against Jose Ramirez. One of the fewest punches thrown in a 12-round fight. His face is on the line. (Haney) went to bed. Every single fighter he’s fought has suffered a loss,” Norman Sr. said. on Haney’s resume, built on wins over older fighters who have already been beaten.
