Melbourne Renegades A competitive boss thanks to the beating of Nicole Faltum
After Perth were bowled and elected to bowl, Melbourne Renegades set a tough target of 150 runs before being bowled in the last ball of the 20th over.
The innings was anchored by a superb performance from WicketKeeper-deceased Nicole Faltum, who hit a powerful 41 not out off 28 balls. Faltum’s knock included six fours which provided much-needed momentum in the over. However, the ummers’ bowlers applied consistent pressure, batting in the spiders.

- Young seamer Chloe Ainsworth was impressive claiming 2 wickets for 17 runs.
- Amy Edgar matched Devine’s Haul, bagging 2 Wakets for 34 runs.
Main spinner Alana King (1/33) and Lilly Mills (1/19) did not flourish a great partnership in the middle overs.
Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney set the scene in the Scorchers’ chase
Chasing 151, the underdogs got off to a flying start, powered by a massive opening stand between captain Sophie Devine and WicketKeeKeeper Beth Mooney.
Devine was in devastating form, knocking 24 deliveries off a total of 191.67. His innings, which included six fours and two sixes, broke the back of the chase before falling in the sixth over. Mooney played a very important supporting role contributing to his 41 off 31 balls.

Renegades countered bravely, primarily through Alice Capsey’s off-spin. He bowled an outstanding spell, capturing four quick wickets to bring the Renegades back into the contest:
Capsey first dismissed Katie Mack and was later followed up with wickets from Mooney, Paige Scholfield and Chloe Ainsworth.
Capsey finished with outstanding figures of 4 wickets for 14 runs from his three overs.
However, the deep batting line-up of the floaters ensured that the momentum did not completely swing.

With the score posted at 118 at 118, Freya Kemp (18 not out) and Lilly Mills (16 not out) steered the team safely home. Their quiet, unbroken 33 run stops, 33 sweepers crossed the finish line comfortably in ’19.
