As Mhatre walked into Virar, thousands gathered to catch a glimpse of the hometown boy who had made history on the global stage. He was taken away in a rooftop motorcade, waving to his fans who lined the streets with flowers and chanted his name with overwhelming joy. Firecrackers lit up the surroundings, drums, cheers and cheers echoed around, turning the night into a festival-like celebration.
