The holidays also carried a deeper emotional layer for Kishan. Just two days before the final, her family was struck by tragedy when her cousin Vaishnavi Singh and her husband Ritik Singh died in a car accident in Siliguri on their way to a wedding.

“Honestly before the game I lost my cousin in a car accident yesterday. I played well for her. I spoke to Hardik bhai and he told me to take the team forward. I dedicate this win to him and today is Women’s Day so that makes it even more special.” – he said, his voice was heavy with emotion.
