This the tragic death of a young Australian it came a week before he was shot in the neck during a practice Ferntree Gully Cricket Club in Melbourne. Although wearing a helmet, Austin tragically rejected the loss of Philip Hughes in 2014.

Ferntree Gully Cricket Club, outside the flowers and cricket bats, have been placed as memorials to Austin, turning the venue into a touching tribute number. The tragedy led to calls for enhanced safety measures, particularly in relation to the use of neck protection, especially as a reminder of the risks they face, regardless of age or level.
