
The Big Bash League (BBL) 2025–26 Melbourne Renegades once again lived up to their reputation for high-octane entertainment when they took on the Sydney Sixers in Match 18 at Docklands Stadium. Although the Sixers eventually cruised to a six-wicket victory, the Renegades put up an all-out fightback, lit up by an incredible moment on the pitch. A competitive total for the Melbourne Renegades
Batting first after Sydney Sixers elected to bowl, Melbourne Renegades posted a competitive 164/9 from 20 overs. Josh Brown while providing early fireworks with a blistering 43 off just 19 balls Jake Fraser-McGurk and Hasan added crucial middle-order contributions to keep the scoreboard ticking.
However, the Sixers’ bowlers struck regularly to prevent Melbourne from taking complete control. Sean Abbott and led the attack with excellent magic Jack Edwards and Hayden Kerr They chipped in with key wickets ensuring that Renegades were kept to a chaseable total on a good batting surface.
Hasan Khan takes a magnificent catch
The highlight of the match came in the last ball of the 14th over during the Sydney Sixers’ chase. Gurinder Sandhu Tam delivers the full ball outside the off stump and Henriques is faced with an attempt to flick the ball over leg. The shot was mistimed and took off, apparently heading for safety.
What followed surprised everyone. Deeper in mid-wicket, Hasan raced to the left at long range, judged the ball perfectly and slid in at full length to complete an extraordinary two-handed catch over the turf. The athletic effort drew thunderous cheers from the crowd and instant admiration from teammates and opponents alike.

Sixers finish the pursuit despite the struggle of the Renegades
Despite the brilliance on the field, the Sydney Sixers controlled the chase. Babar Azam While anchoring the innings which consisted of a half-century Joel Davies provided the finishing touch with an aggressive invincible cameo. The Sixers eventually cruised to a comfortable victory, reaching 168/4 in 19.1 overs.
