A 5.5-magnitude earthquake hit the area Bangladesh side Day 3 of the ongoing second test between Bangladesh and Ireland It stops temporarily at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka and causes chaos in the stands. At 10:38 a.m. local time, players, umpires and spectators have been asked to rush to safety.
Earthquake The earthquake, with its epicenter in Madhabdi, 40 km east of Dhaka, caused a significant panic in the stadium. With both locker rooms emptied, players and officials hurriedly moved onto the field, looking for an open space. Fans in the stands were frantically looking for performances, with many leaving the stadium. The Media Center at the north end of the stadium was also quickly evacuated.
Some players were seen looking up through the screen, worried that they might slip due to concussions. The tremor, which affected parts of Kolkata and Guwahati, was reported by Germany’s Geosciences (GFZ) as a 5.7-magnitude earthquake in much of Northeast India.
After a three-minute break, Ireland resumed in the 56th over with Ireland at 165/5. Despite the initial shock, they moved on as players. Ireland lost two more wickets during the resumption session and by lunch, they were 211/7 in reply to Bangladesh’s total of 476.

On the river, Bangladesh were comfortably posted 42/0 in their second innings Mahmudul Hasan Sevinci and Shadow Islam an unyielding, race to a position of command. Ireland’s contention was set up harshly as they lost wickets in droves throughout their innings. They reached 175/5 at one point but failed to build on the momentum, eventually falling to the chase target. The hosts will now press and accelerate their advantage with the bat after tea.
