Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was caught abusing his senior India Teammate Sanju Samson then decided not to go for the second catch. The incident took place when Arshdeep and Sanju Samson were representing India D against India A during the ongoing Duleep Trophy last week.
It happened during India A’s first innings when Arshdeep Singh was bowling and Sanju Samson was standing behind the stumps. On the first ball of the 78th innings, the fast bowler was bowling to Khaleel Ahmed, who had not yet opened his account.
Apart from Sanju Samson, two other players were also standing in the slip cordon. On the first ball, Arshdeep Singh managed to get Khaleel behind the stumps. But neither Sanju Samson nor Devdutt Padikkal, who was standing at first slip, went to the ball.
Usually wicketkeepers go for this catch, but Samson thought Padikkal would go for it. However, Padikkal seems to have expected Samson to go for the catch. In the end, the ball went through two pitches and ran away for a four.
A misunderstanding between Samson and Padikkal cost Arshdeep a wicket and he was none too happy. As soon as the ball went past the home side, a furious Arshdeep was heard abusing his teammates.
“Hey yaar, sis *** d,” – said Arshdip, taking out his anger.
