Washington Sundar replaced Kuldeep Yadav in 11 overs in the 2nd Test
Notably, Washington Sundar replaced Kuldeep Yadav in the 2nd Test against New Zealand against India in Pune. The latter was part of the previous Test but managed to pick only 3 wickets in the match. Also, India went wicketless in the 2nd innings as they lost the game by 8 wickets.
Interestingly, Yadav has been a part of many Test series in recent times, but Rohit Sharma always takes Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja as first choice spinners as they can also score runs with the bat. Kuldeep Yadav is a left-arm off-spinner who is also a regular in the ODI and T20I teams.
However, after an average show in the 1st Test, the Indian skipper took the lead with Sundar in the 11th over and the decision ultimately paid off. Sundar was the star of the show during the IND vs NZ 1st Test in Pune.
