Promoter Frank Warren says he would be open to a third fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, although he admitted the current heavyweight title picture makes any immediate rematch difficult to arrange.
Usyk currently holds three major heavyweight titles, each with mandatory challengers waiting in line. Under the rules of the sanctioning body, those obligations must be met unless an exception is granted. Warren noted that failure to reach agreements would leave Usyk with little choice but to vacate belts one at a time.
That scenario has played out once before. Usyk vacated his WBO title rather than continue with a mandatory defense against Fabio Wardley, who was elevated to full champion as a result. Warren suggested similar outcomes could follow if releases could not be secured for the remaining titles.
According to WarrenArranging exceptions across multiple sanctioning bodies would require broad approval, making the process complex. He described the situation as overcrowded, with multiple fighters waiting for title opportunities and limited flexibility to accommodate voluntary defenses or legacy fights.
Fury’s status adds another variable. The former heavyweight champion has not fought since his second loss to Usyk in December 2024 and has yet to announce a return date or opponent. Warren has indicated that before any discussion of another Usyk fight can be taken seriously, Fury must re-enter the ring in a preparatory fight to end his inactivity.
Despite the logistical hurdles, Warren reiterated his interest in a trilogy based on the quality of the first two fights. He praised Usyk’s achievements, describing him as the top heavyweight in the division, while also noting that both previous fights with Fury had produced competitive and entertaining action.
Still, Warren stopped short of dismissing the idea as imminent. Right now there is more talk than there is a clear way to actually fight the battle. With mandatory challengers awaiting and Fury still without a scheduled return, any third meeting will depend on how the title situation develops and whether compromises can be reached in the coming months.
