Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are considered two of the best batsmen of the current era. Both the stars have openly shared their admiration for each other on several occasions. The discussion of the comparison between their careers has fascinated their fans, especially since they come from cricket-loving countries.
There’s a Hell of a Difference Between Two Players – Mudassar Nazar
Speaking to news agency PTI, Mudassar Nazar said that fans often compare Virat Kohli and Babar Azam but there is a hell of a difference between the two players. Mudassar said Kohli was one of the greatest to ever play the game and his achievements set him apart from Babar.
“I mean, there is a hell of a difference between the two players. Virat will be remembered as one of the greats to grace the game. Babar is yet to make a name for himself,” Mudassar told PTI.
Virat Kohli’s cricket career has been extraordinary since his debut in 2008. He changed the game with his consistency, determination and ability to thrive under pressure. He became the fastest player to reach 27,000 international runs during India’s 2-0 Test series win against Bangladesh.
On the other hand, Babar Azam made his debut in Pakistan in 2015. The right-handed batsman has been struggling to make it across the three formats for over a year. He recently resigned from the white ball captaincy of Pakistan. Babar has done great performances but not to Kohli’s legacy.
I love watching Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli – Mudassar Nazar
The 68-year-old also expressed his admiration for Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and said he enjoyed watching him. Mudassar emphasized that the joy of witnessing Sharma and Kohli at their peak makes it easy to spend hours in front of the television just watching them play.
“I love watching Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. It’s fantastic to watch them when they are at their peak and playing well. You can sit in front of the TV for hours just watching these two play,” added Mudassar.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played a key role in India’s victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rohit was the team’s top scorer in the tournament, amassing 257 runs in eight innings. Kohli scored 76 runs off 59 balls in the final match. The duo announced their retirement from T20Is after the last win.
We should have given him a longer respite – Mudassar Nazar
Former Pakistan coach Babar Azam has criticized the current state of the Pakistan cricket team after his resignation as the white-ball captain. Mudassar defended the stability, saying the new captain should be given a longer tenure rather than being replaced immediately.
“It is our own doing (the friction between Babar and Shaheen). We should not have messed with the setup,” Mudassar said.
“There was a captain, we should have given him longer and if someone else was chosen as captain, he should have gone into it properly. And he shouldn’t have been thrown out immediately.”
