Sarfaraz Khan to be dropped from India’s playing XI for Perth Test
There are reports that Sarfaraz Khan may not be included in the playing XI for the opening match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Devdutt Padikkal could bat at No.3 in the absence of Shubman Gill, who is sidelined with a thumb injury. Dhruv Jurel will act as the number 6 specialist in the team.
Sarfaraz made an impressive start to his Test career by scoring three half-centuries in his debut series against England earlier this year. He also smashed his maiden Test century in Bengaluru during the series opener against New Zealand.
However, his form dipped in the matches in Pune and Mumbai, where he was dismissed cheaply in all four innings. Meanwhile, Devdutt Padikkal scored 65 runs in his Test debut against England in Dharamsala earlier this year. Made an impact for India A in the unofficial test matches against Australia A.
Sarfaraz Khan can not be counted? – Aakash Chopra
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra stated that the team is responsible for using the players it selects. The former cricketer emphasized that Sarfaraz deserves a fair chance to prove his worth.
“Can’t Sarfaraz be counted out? Even though you and I have little faith in him, it doesn’t matter what you, I or the team think of him. If you’ve got him with you, it’s your duty to try. At least him,” Chopra said.
“You can’t tell anyone you didn’t enjoy playing him without trying, especially a tested player. You played him and he scored 150. You played him before against England and he scored runs. So after you score, you can’t tell anyone. that there is a chance and a place, but before that you will play someone else.”
