Virat Kohli ordered to hit two more centuries in BGT 2024-25 by former BCCI chief selector

Former BCCI selector Chetan Sharma has backed first-rounder Virat Kohli to do well in the remaining two games of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He said his prediction of a three-ton streak in the series would come true as he would hit two more centuries.

Indian National Cricket Team batsman Virat Kohli has again come under the pump for his failures in test cricket. The premier batsman started the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 on a high as he hit a magnificent century in Perth and looked set to set the stage on fire.

Virat Kohli managed just 26 runs after his century in Perth

However, after that century, his chart witnessed a downward trend as he failed to win the last two matches of the series. The demons of the outside off stump line came back to haunt him as he scored a string of low scores in the last four overs.

Kohli was expected to have a big series after scoring a magnificent century in Perth. But it was quite the opposite as he looked clueless in the last two games in Adelaide and the Gabba.

After 100 runs in Perth, Kohli managed just 26 runs, which is certainly a serious concern for him with the series on the line. As runs are needed from him for the Indian National Cricket Team, the batsman would like to change the table in the last two games.

Let’s hope he scores two more centuries in the next two matches – Chetan Sharma over Virat Kohli

Despite Kohli’s poor form, Chetan Sharma has opted for the main batsman to take wickets in the last two games of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He batted for Kohli to score two more centuries in the last two matches and said his prediction would come true. Speaking to ANI, he explained:

“He is a player who has achieved a lot for us, which raises our expectations. I am sure he will do well. Let’s hope he scores two more centuries in the next two matches. I predicted three before the series. Centuries in Australia.”

Virat Kohli has struggled to get busy with the bat in 2024

Overall, 2024 has not been a good year for Virat Kohli. In the 9 games he has played so far, the main batsman has scored 376 runs at an average of 25.06 and his highest score is 100. In this WTC era, he has 687 runs in 12 matches at an average of 36.15, with two centuries and three fifties.

The numbers show that Virat Kohli has not been at his best in Tests. However, he will get a golden opportunity to turn the tables in the final two games of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the MCG and SCG.
