Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah in spotlight as details of India’s training session leaked


The Indian cricket team began preparations for the crucial two-match Test against Bangladesh, focusing on two key players Virat Kohli and jasprit bumrah During an indoor training session at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The Indian team underwent an intense training session on Friday afternoon (September 13) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai under the watchful eyes of head coach Gautam Gambhir and his supporting staff; the venue will host the first test against Bangladesh from September 19.

Jasprit Bumrah is on full throttle and Virat Kohli is sweating it out in the nets as India begin preparations for the Bangladesh series.

The buzz was palpable as Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli sweated it out in the nets for 45 minutes. It was the former Indian captain’s first proper session after returning from a month-long break.

Virat Kohli landed directly in Chennai from London early in the morning and his presence energized the Indian camp. Bangladesh Tests, because he is in no rush to go to the war zone.

Meanwhile, India’s pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah showed why he is among the most feared bowlers in the world across all three formats of the game. As Jasprit Bumrah prepares to return to action with the Bangladesh Tests, Bumrah is said to have gone full throttle during the closed-door training session.

Jasprit Bumrah has been on hiatus since winning the 2024 T20 World Cup and will make a comeback with the home series against the Tigers. PTI quoted a local source as saying, “Virat was there for 45 minutes and Bumrah also went full throttle.”

Team India begins preparations for an exciting home season

It was Gambhir’s first warm-up session after taking over from Rahul Dravid as India’s coach. Gambhir was joined by his coaching team, with Morne Morkel as the new bowling coach and Abhishek Nayar as the assistant coach.

The first practice footage shared by BCCI at X showed how the players listened to Gambhir and captain Rohit. Sharing a few pictures on X, BCCI captioned it, “The countdown begins as Team India begins preparations for an exciting home season.”

Meanwhile, Rohit was spotted in yellow on his arrival in Chennai on Thursday night, Kohli flew in from London this morning, while other big stars like KL Rahul, Bumrah and Rishabh Pant arrived on Thursday. Sarfaraz Khan will join the team after his Duleep Trophy 2024 commitments with India B.

India aim to capture all WTC points in Bangladesh Tests

Team India knows there is no room for error with the vital WTC points. Sitting at the top of the WTC table with 6.52 percentage points, India are gearing up for a tough Test season of just 10 Tests against Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia.

India will aim to set the tone for the all-important Test season ahead. However, the hosts cannot take Bangladesh lightly in the home series, fresh from a sensational 2-0 series win over Pakistan. It should be noted that after the upcoming two Tests, the two teams will play three T20Is next month.
