He noted that the West Indian great shook the confidence of the bowlers not only with his bat but also with his piercing gaze. Sivaramakrishnan said that he really likes to see all the emotions Kohli shows on the field and provokes bowlers like Vivian Richards.

Laxman Sivaramakrishnan said on Sony Sport’s Tamil Cricket Podcast, Cricket Petta, “Kohli’s attacking attitude is something he himself likes and celebrates. You have to show your feelings. You must not be like a machine on earth. You have to have an attitude like Sir Vivian Richards, he terrorizes bowlers with his eyes.”

Meanwhile, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan also made a bold comment about India’s two most popular captains – Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Sivaramakrishnan said Kohli’s dynamic aggression and fiery leadership make him the best captain in Test cricket, while MS Dhoni’s calm, composed style makes him the ideal white-ball captain.

Sivaramakrishnan further noted that “Kohli’s attacking attitude and MS Dhoni’s calm demeanor. For me, the best red ball captain is Virat and the best white ball captain is Dhoni.”

In addition, Sivaramakrishnan reflected on the leadership styles of two legendary Indian captains, Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, and shared what distinguished them during their playing days. He hailed Gavaskar as the best captain he had played with, highlighting his exceptional strategic thinking and analytical approach to the game.

Sivaramakrishnan noted that Gavaskar was a captain who always demanded justification for any demand. He further described Kapil Dev as an instinctive leader who relies on his gut instincts to take decisions on the field. Sivaramakrishnan recalled a memorable moment from the 1983 World Cup victory when legendary all-rounder Madan Lala gave an extra edge because of his feelings.

Acknowledging the contributions of former spinner N. Venkataragavan, he called him an excellent captain with remarkable leadership qualities. Sivaramakrishnan explained, “Sunil Gavaskar was the best captain I played under. He was very good with strategy and analytical approach. Kapil Dev was a very instinctive captain.”

He said, “He will go with his gut instinct. He added Madan Lal in 1983; it is instinctive captaincy. With Sunil Gavaskar, you can ask for anything, but you have to justify why you want to do it. If you do, it will give you the freedom to set your fields and plan your attack. Venkataraghavan was also an excellent captain; he was beautiful as a captain.’
