Vincent Ciattei is chasing a dream. Five questions with the US road mile champion.

Vincent Ciattai is a middle distance runner who competes Under Armour’s Dark Sky Club. Vincent has an 800m PB of 1:46.82, 3:31.67 for 1,500 meters, 3:49.37 for the mile and 7:39.50 for 3,000 meters.

In the 2024 Olympic trials, Vincent Chiatei was fourth in the 1500 meters. Vincent opened the 2026 winter with a great PB of 7:39.50 at the BU Terrier Classic on January 30, 2025. On February 14, Vincent ran 3:33.74 for the short course 1500m at the ASICS Sound Running Invite and finished third in a PB of 7.31 miles. On February 19, Vincent Ciatey ran 3:35.83 for 8th at the de Leeuwen meet.

Vincent has been preparing for the USATF Indoors, which will take place from February 28th to March 1st.

Special thanks to Jeff Benjamin for the USATF Preview interviews.

1) How is your training going and how satisfied are you with your performances indoors so far?

Vincent Siatte. “Throughout the fall and winter, my training has been consistent and healthy. I was preparing for the US XC in the fall, and even though it didn’t go well for me, I parlayed that build into a good winter. I’ve been happy with my indoor racing so far. My first sub 7:40 race was a 3k and I was in the mix. I’m glad I went for it and the race shortly after that in Leeuwin was a good experience, my legs were definitely feeling the travel but I still approached the race the way I wanted to, but I think the incentives were still very important.

2) I would think that after the indoor season, this is the outdoor season for chasing records; do you agree

Vincent Siatte. “Personally, the US road champs continue to be the number one goal after the indoor games. I won last year and then the world road champs, which would have been my first USA team, got cancelled. It was pretty sad, so I want to try to make that team again and then I can focus on running fast with everyone.”

3) As a previous visitor. How do you like Ocean Breeze?

Vincent Siatte. “Ocean Breeze is definitely a good facility, the track feels fast and the grandstands on the house are pretty big for an indoor track.”

4) Which event are you going to attend and do you have a pre-planned strategy?

Vincent Siatt. “I will compete in the 1,500. It can be pretty chaotic inside, but my ideal plan would be to be in the mix to win before it’s too late. I had a bad start last year and I was just a little too patient.”

5) Anything else you would like to add?

Vincent Ciatt. “My parents and brother will be there to watch and I always race well, especially when he’s there, so I’m excited about that.”
