If you go into the competition, both of these unbeaten Southpaws were known for having contrasting styles that could no longer be different. Zepeda is a relentless pressure fighter known for his incredible endurance, toughness and determination. On the other hand, Stevenson is more a defensive tactic known for his great technical ability. The contrast in styles was fully displayed throughout the fight, but not necessarily in the same way that many fans expected.
It is a hard fight, where Stevenson fights the kind of struggle that benefited the properties of Zepeda. It produced a brilliant clash. Zepeda had a strong start, where he applied to intelligent effective pressure and forced Stevenson to fight faster than he was used to. But when the rounds progressed, Stevenson began to find a nice groove where he ended up harder, sharper and cleaner, despite Zepeda usually throwing more blows.
At the end of 12 rounds of extremely entertaining actions, Stevenson was received a unanimous 12 -round decision. Two of the judges scored the battle 118-110, and the other had 119-109, all of which looked broader than the action determined in the eyes of most fans. Both boxers deliver a strong performance in this one, and it will be interesting to see where they are going from here. With the victory, Stevenson made three defense of his WBC Championship at 135. The three division champion’s perfect record has improved to 24-0.
