Former two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, who will challenge YouTube sensation/actor-turned-prizefighter Jake Paul this Friday, December 19, in a bizarre heavyweight showdown that will be available on Netflix.
The fight is quite peculiar, and even though it’s only a few days away, many fans are still skeptical about the fight as a whole. Many fans expected Jake Paul to pull out of the fight.

It has not yet happened at this late hour, but still many insist that Paul will withdraw. Other fans loudly proclaim the belief that the only way this fight could possibly happen is if there is some kind of secret non-disclosure agreement that would ensure Joshua takes it easy on Paul.
The fight is scheduled for 8 three minute rounds, with 10oz gloves. A further stipulation prevents Joshua from weighing more than 245 pounds. Neither of these terms should be a problem for AJ. On the contrary, 10 oz gloves are something that works in his favor, 8 rounds vs. 10 or 12 is irrelevant, and AJ should have no problem getting under 245. He weighed less than that throughout most of his professional career, despite coming in a bit higher than that in recent years.
Paul was originally scheduled to face Gervonta Davis in November. Davis is a lightweight at 135 pounds. Instead, Paul will now square off against a powerhouse heavyweight in the form of Anthony Joshua, an elite-level heavyweight and former two-time world champion. To make matters even more bizarre is the fact that Paul has only faced one true heavyweight boxer to date, and that was 58-year-old Mike Tyson. Meanwhile, The Ring Magazine recently announced that a long overdue showdown between AJ and Tyson Fury is planned for a Riyadh Season card in 2026, with each man expected to have a tune-up next year, meaning one additional fight for AJ after Paul.
