Who will win the upcoming heavyweight championship rematch between the unified WBA/WBO/WBC and lineal world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, and former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury? Will it be a repeat of Usyk? Or will Fury be able to get his revenge? That’s the big question going in, and it’s not an easy question to answer.
Their first fight back in May was a highly competitive encounter that resulted in a razor thin split decision victory for Usyk. Judges Mike Fitzgerald and Manuel Oliver Palomo both scored the fight for Usyk, 114-113 and 115-112 respectively; the other judge Craig Metcalfe scored it 114-113 in Fury’s favor.
Using their first fight as an indication of how things might play out in the rematch, what did we learn from the first fight? What else can Fury do? What types of things worked for Fury in their first fight, and what types of things did he do that didn’t work? What else can Usyk do? What types of adjustments can Usyk make in the rematch, and what types of things can he do to neutralize things that worked for Fury in their first fight?
