US Open Champ Wynham Clark suspended by Oakmont

If Wynham Clark plans to return to the US Open at Oakmont Country Club in 2033 – or visit the historic club for some reason before – he will have to meet a list of requests before.

Clark has been suspended from the Oakmont club, without. After he damaged the closets in a rage state after his second round of US Open last month. Pat Mayo first reported Suspension on X Tuesday, and numerous plugs confirmed since then. Golf Digest’s Joel Beall got a copy of a letter Club president John Lynch sent to the members this week.

“Some of you have asked about the situation that includes Wynham Clark and the steps that have been taken in response to his latest behavior. After numerous discussions with USA and OCC board, a decision has been made that Mr. Clark will no longer be allowed on OCC property.

“This decision will remain in force if it is not officially reviewed and approved by the board.”

“Restoration will depend on Mr. Clark that meets a number of specific conditions, including full repayment for damages, a significant contribution to a charity of board choice and successful conclusion of counseling and/or anger management sessions.

Clark, 31, rejected the last hole of the second round of US open to lose cut from one. The damage he caused to historical closets then eventually circulated on social media.

He was asked about the incident after his round Thursday at the next week’s passenger championship.

“I’ve had a lot of uplifting and ups in my career, especially this year some landing,” Clark said. “I made a mistake for which I deeply regretted. I am very sorry for what happened.

“But I would also like to go on, not only for myself, but for Oakmont, for the USA, and a kind of concentration on the rest of this year and the things that come,” he continued. “I still want to try to make Ryder Cup team. I’m still on the outside looking for FedExcup. So I’m starting to continue and focus on those things.”

But Oakmont, like many clubs, is a proud membership; Many members were angry and disappointed with what happened.

“Whoever did it, I don’t know who they think they are,” a long member of Golf.com told him, adding, “I will be tempted to appear in his next tour and throw it into tee. You know, something like,” Hey, Buddy, how to come to your home and start in the shower doors? “”

Clark’s apology for travelers was not his first season. He also put a statement after throwing a club against a sponsor sign after a box of tee after a strange car at the Championship PGA in May, saying: “I promise I will better how I treat my disappointments in the course going forward, and I hope everyone can forgive me in due time.”

Clark won the US Open 2023 at the Los Angeles Country Club, winning him a 10-year exception in the National Championship. The last year of this exception, in 2033, will be when the US Open returns to Oakmont.

Clark will leave for his first round of the 2025 open championship at 5:20 in the morning on Thursday.
