Undercard duty: Diego Pacheco to fight Trevor McCumby on July 19 in Texas

The next battle against Trevor McCumby, the next fight against Trevor McCumby, was placed on the Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez against Phumelele Cafu on July 19 at Star in Frisco, Texas, on the Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez against Phumelele Cafu on the star in Frisco.

Again under map

Pacheco (23-0, 18 COs) would submit his card if he faced one of the dangerous 168 Pounders:

  • Christian Milli
  • Osleys Iglesias

It is unclear whether the promoter of Pacheco, Eddie Hearn, was trying to get one of those talents. Maybe Hearn feels too early to throw in 24-year-old Pacheco with Mbilli or the Cuban Iglesias, because these guys have a lot of power and offensive ability to test him.

With Diego arranging with the WBO at 168, Hearn would take a great risk by fitting him against one of the murderer sharks in the division and possibly exposing him.

If Pacheco remains unbeaten long enough to get a title against Canelo, he will earn millions out of the fight. It doesn’t matter if his career drops afterwards. The way things look now will never fight against Pacheco because he is Mexican and he does not like to fight against his people. In addition, Pacheco is so imperceptible. He has no personality, and his resume is barren of names, filled with less opposition from top to bottom.

Pacheco will arrive at a wide 12-round decision on the previously unbeaten Steven Nelson on January 25. He dominated the 36-year-old man, who has never fought a note in setting up a bloated 20-0 record.

McCumby Matchup

The use of McCumby (28-1, 21 COs) as Pacheco’s opponent for the 19th card is not a good look. McCumby, 32, was knocked out on September 14 last year in his last battle by Caleb Plant in the ninth round on the bottom map of Canelo against Edgar Berlanga.

It is useless for Pacheco to fight McCumby immediately after that loss. Hearn apparently chose McCumby because fans will recognize him of his last fight, which gives them the chance to compare Pacheco with plant. The problem is that Pacheco is no profit to beat a fighter who has a bad knockout loss. He’s not going to get credit out of a victory.

“I’ve worked all my life to get to this point in my career where I face the best fighters in the world,” says Pacheco.

What is Diego talking about here? McCumby is not ‘the best’ in the world in 168. He was just knocked out by the Finesse fighter Caleb plant. Pacheco has to take a step and fight if he wants to get the attention of Canelo and Turki Alalshikh.

The reason why Pacheco was ignored by Alvarez and left out in the cold is that his opposition was mediocre, and that he does not have charisma.

Of course, Diego can’t do anything about the lack of charisma because it’s something you were born with. However, he can place a fire under the back of Hearn and tell him to fit him against Iglesias and Mbilli so that he can secure a fight against Canelo before retiring.
