Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has urged international coaches not to contact his players while they are at the club.
Emery says he will respect the two-week period while players are on international duty, but the same should apply to international bosses.
Aston Villa will face Manchester United before the players leave for the national teams and Emery wants his players to focus fully on their club.
He said: “I don’t like it when we are here, some coaches are calling our players. I don’t like I have told the players that I don’t want the national team coaches to call them here. You have to be focused here. When we finish here Sunday at 4pm. I will follow how you do it. But I will respect that process when you are there.
“When they are with their national teams, I don’t talk to them. I don’t want to disturb them. It’s not my time.” – said Emery.
Emery also expressed his frustration at Morgan Rogers’ call-up to the Under-21s. The Spaniard believes Rogers is good enough to play with seniors.
“My opinion has not changed. He is 22 years old. He can play in the U-21. It’s not your place.
“Now, he is playing at a level to be an option for the seniors. Not for under-21s. Clearly, clearly – 100 percent. I have to respect that. But I don’t agree.”
