Tyson: Jake is “inferior”, “in trouble”

Mike Tyson is not impressed with his opponent Jake Paul’s ability as a fighter, and considers him as “inferior” with his ability inside the ring.

Former Disney actor Jake started boxing four years ago to make extra money, and he’s been learning on the job ever since. He mostly beat non-boxers who were long in the tooth. For example, Paul has recent wins over 39-year-old Nate Diaz and 47-year-old Anderson Silva, both ex-MMA guys.

You can’t blame Tyson for considering Paul a low-level fighter because he hasn’t shown enough confidence to face real fighters until now. Even then, Jake chose a fighter who had been retired for 19 years, almost 60.

Mike Tyson, 58, will be Jake’s first real boxer to fight, and there is a lot of interest from people to see how he fares against someone of his ability.

Tyson: “Jake is in trouble”

“As a fighter he is inferior. It only matters what happens in the ring. He can say what he wants,” Mike Tyson said BBC Sports about Jake Paul’s fighting ability. “In the ring is where the party begins. We’re going to find out if he can party with the big boys.

“Smashing,” Tyson said when asked how the fight with Jake ended. “I think Jake is in a lot of trouble,” Mike said of how the fight with Paul would end.

Doctored video clips?

Tyson does have many doubters who are skeptical of his ability to defeat even a sub-level fighter like Jake Paul. They point out that they have yet to see Tyson throw consistent combinations without the need for a rest break. In other words, Tyson’s road work was short video clips that lasted a few seconds without showing that he was continuing to train.

Fans believe the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion Tyson only has two or three rounds in him before he runs out of gas, and stops or retires against Jake. They think the years of weed smoking and soft living will hurt Tyson’s cardio and limit him to two or three hard rounds in the fight.

The detractors may have a point because Tyson has trouble breathing even during normal conversation. You can see his chest rise and fall at rest with no movements, which is obviously not a good sign going into this fight. Boxing is a cardio sport, and one must be well conditioned to win. The

Paul vs. Tyson meets in an eight-round bout this Friday, November 15, on Netflix from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
