Tyson Fury has complained about the $150 million he lost on after watching Anthony Joshua get knocked out by Daniel Dubois in the fifth round last Saturday night. The defeat by Joshua effectively scuppered plans for him and Fury to meet in a mega-million clash in the first quarter of 2025.
Although His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has previously spoken about the possibility of the Joshua-Fury fight still happening if one or both lose, how Joshua was reduced to asteroid dust by IBF heavyweight champion Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) last Saturday night of 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in London, there is no chance of the Fury fight happening next.
“It cost me $150 million, the silly ***,” Tyson Fury said TNT Sportsboxin response to Anthony Joshua’s loss to Daniel Dubois.
All that cash went down the drain because of Joshua’s loss. Fury had to be upset, but that’s how it goes. Joshua is already filthy rich, sitting on an $80 million fortune, and when you have that kind of money, that’s what happens. He is not exactly young as he is in his mid-30s. It may be young for a manager in a corporation, but not a fighter.
Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, already realizes that the rematch with Dubois has to happen next, and he talks about AJ triggering the clause they have in the contract to make it happen.
AJ needs to unload Ben Davison
It was clear from the look of the 34-year-old Joshua last night that he was not at his best. He used a crazy fighting approach, retreating and not letting go of his hands. Aside from the passive game plan Joshua used, his physique appeared bulky, as if he had hit way too much in the weight room. He may have thought that he needed more muscle to handle the power of the young lion, Dubois, but it backfired on him.
It goes without saying that Joshua needs to fire trainer Ben Davison immediately. It’s not even open for discussion. Davison must go. If Joshua didn’t hand Davison his walking papers after the fight, he needs to do it now. Ben let him down with this silly game plan, and he looked poorly trained.
