Two models of launching short games that every golf player need to know

One of the most bypassed bases of the short game is to understand different types of release patterns that require different shots. Or as Golf teacher to see Parker McLachlin says it, understanding the two “families” of the short game.

Most amateurs use the same movement for each stroke around green, but mastering your short game means to match your release with the stroke. Once you understand which family it belongs to a blow, even the most difficult lies will be manageable.

Discover the two short game families below and eliminate assumptions from your short game.

Family 1: The hand of the tracks, the body turns

“A family group is putting on, clashes and shots on the pitch,” McLachlin says.

“They have the same kind of release,” he says, “with the hand of the trail and the body.”

This means that the hand of the tracks works through the influence as the body turns through the stroke, keeping everything connected. A method of releasing the hand, the predominant body creates a smooth, durable, and durable movement that helps you hit a low ending.

Family 2: Lead hand, less body

The second short “family” game that McLachlin mentions includes bunker shots, flopic shots and shots with gritty thick. These shots require a completely different style of release.

“It will be more of the lead hand and less body,” says McLachlin, “more hand, wrist and wing release.”

These types of shooting need the body to stay calm, while the hands – specifically the lead hand – take over. Keyta key to executing these finesse shooting with the necessary trajectory or rotation. Activating your lead hand and arms in the release allows you to place the ball quickly or slide under deep grass or sand.

Knowing which family belongs to a shot will transform your short game.

“It will give you clarity and understanding on how to manage your short game,” McLachlin says.

Practicing both styles of release helps you understand what your goal requires at the moment. This sharpens your feeling, builds confidence and strengthens the confidence that you also have the means and knowledge to navigate with every lie easily.

This will be translated into more confidence-and we hope more easily-in these short touch shots around green.
