Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim continues to leave Marcus Rashford out of his staff, with the future of the English international in doubt.
However, when you look at how poorly Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund are playing, you have to wonder if Amorim needs to give Rashford a chance at some point.
Man Utd ran out 1-0 winners at home to Fulham last evening but needed a late Lisandro Martinez deflected goal to do the job.
There really wasn’t enough goal threat from the Red Devils, with these stats below showing just how little impact Zirkzee and Hojlund had on the game at Craven Cottage…
These two forwards had zero shots between them, and just one touch in the penalty area between them all game. Zirkzee himself had just eight touches in the 32 minutes he played, and neither player created any chances for their teammates.
Does Ruben Amorim need Marcus Rashford back?
United surely cannot keep playing like this, and there seems to be no sign of either Hojlund or Zirkzee suddenly improving to the levels needed to lead the line at such a big club.
Amorim may not be happy with Rashford, and the 27-year-old may not have a long-term future at Old Trafford, but surely that needs to be rethought.
Rashford has certainly not been at his best for a while, but at least he has shown in recent times that he can be a world-class finisher.
These two, however, look absolutely clueless at this level and MUFC will be in big trouble if they let Rashford go without bringing in a replacement.
It is surely unthinkable that Amorim will rely on these two for the rest of the season.
