Turki Alalshikh announced today at X that Abdullah Mason will face Sam Noakes for the vacant WBO lightweight title in a “massive Riyadh season” event later this year in November. The battle will be on the bottom map.
Turki’s November card
- David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde – Main Event
- Brian Norman jr. Against Devin Haney-Mede Feature
- Abdullah Mason vs. Sam Noakes
Fans are satisfied with the map. The only problem they have is the order of the card. The WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Banavidez’s fight against Yarde is not one that fans are excited about because it seems to be a mismatch. People would rather have seen Benavidez (30-0, 24 COs) fight with David Morrell against a re-broadcast than defend against the veteran-world (27-3, 24 COs).
People are more interested in the clash between WBO Welterweight Champion Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 food) and Haney. The fight promises to be competitive as long as it lasts.
Former two divisions world champion Haney (32-0, 15 COs) will prove a point after the way he was dumped on my fans after his performance last May at the Times Square event in New York. He knows that he has to fight hard to make fans forget how he fought against Jose Ramirez on that occasion.
Mason vs Noakes title bolt
#1 Abdullah Mason (19-0, 17 food) and #2 Sam Noakes (17-0, 15 COs) will fight for the vacant WBO lightweight title that was stripped of champion Keyshawn Davis in June last year when he did not weight for a fight. The Southpaw Mason, 21, is likely to be the favorite against Noakes. This is not a big fight, because Noakes fought his entire six -year career at the British level.
A blow of unbeaten fighters for the world title!
