Hebrews 64:48
LISBON (POR, March 8). Tsige Gebreselama from Ethiopia Won the women’s race at the Lisbon Half Marathon (WA Elite Label) by nearly two minutes, winning in 64:48. Kenyan Janet Chepngetich (66:50) and Regina Wambui (PBUH 67:10).

Emeline Manizabayo of Rwanda was sixth in the national record at 67:35, while Mekdes Voldu 68:20 tied France’s record for seventh place. Portugal’s Mariana Machado was 9th with a distance debut of 70:10. Former 1500m world champion Abeba Aregavi from Sweden He was 11th in 71:29.

- Tsige was the first Women to break 30 minutes on the track in North America with her 29:48.34 at THE TEN (March 16, 2024).
- This writer first saw Tsige race in the 2024 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon (February 24, 2024). Tsige ran 1:05.14 for the win. Tsige remained in the lead group until 16k, then began building a thirty second safety net for second place Abel Yeshane (former half marathon world record holder).

- At the Paris Olympics, Tsiege ran 30:54.57 to finish tenth in the Olympic 10,000 meters.
- Following a brilliant 5000m victory (14:18) at the Tokyo World Championships in July 2025 NIKE Pre, Tsige finished 21st in the heat and humidity of Tokyo in a sub 32:33.73.
- Tsige Gebreslama is trained by Dathan Ritzenhein and runs for On Athletic Club in Boulder, Colorado.
