South African National Cricket Team star Tristan Stubbs celebrated like David Warner after Indian National Cricket Team captain Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed on Sunday, November 10.
Pacer Andile Simelane dismissed Suryakumar Yadav with a superb yorker in the second T20I of the four-match series at St Georges Park in Qkeberha, much to the delight of Tristan Stubbs.
Andile Simelane dismisses Suryakumar Yadav and Tristan Stubbs celebrates wildly
Suryakumar Yadav failed to fire with the bat in the second T20I against the Proteas. Like other batsmen, he struggled on a tough pitch and failed to get ahead.
Suryakumar Yadav came into the match with just four runs from nine balls and he was dismissed in the last ball of the fourth over, leaving India struggling at 15/3.
Notably, Simelane bowled a perfect yorker to Suryakumar Yadav and the Indian captain scrambled early to play the shot. But he was beaten and the ball hit the back boot. It looked bad at first glance and after a discussion with Tilak Varma the Indian captain refused to investigate and returned to the hut.
As the on-field referee raised his finger, Tristan Stubbs showed a David Warner-like celebration on the screen. Interestingly, he jumped and punched the air with gusto like David Warner, who made this leap celebration his trademark.

Proteas star Tristan Stubbs said they were confident they had the run rate under control after winning the Man of the Match award for his match-winning knock of 47 runs.
Tristan Stubbs also praised his batting partner Gerald Coetzee for hitting boundaries and scoring at a blistering pace. The South African batsman later revealed that he was quite nervous during the innings as some of his men had come to watch. After all, it was his mother’s birthday. He elaborated:
“The run-rate never got away from us. Coetzee came in and played that innings and we got over the line. He (Coetzee) came in and said we could win it.
“Going back to run-a-ball was always two strikes. I just tried to catch my breath. It’s my mum’s birthday so 20-30 people came to watch the game. It’s my favorite place to play cricket. I was nervous so I was trying to control my breathing.”
Andile Simelane – I am very happy to get a big wicket under my name
Midway through the break, 21-year-old Andile Simelane announced his plans when his captain Aiden Markram handed him the ball in the fourth quarter. He said:
“When Aiden told me I was going to bowl the 4th over, I thought about the options and lengths we had. We had plans for Sky. We executed our plans and I’m happy. The coaches told me to get my slow balls back and I was able to do them.”
Andile Simelane later said he was happy to take the wicket of former World No. 1 batsman Suryakumar Yadav, describing it as an unforgettable experience. He said:
“(On taking Suryakumar’s wicket) I’m very happy to get a big wicket under my name, it’s something special that I won’t forget. It’s nice to work with them, they told me not to worry. They motivated me and I managed to stay calm.”
