TREY MCBRIDE had a massive 2024 season, capturing 111 passages for 1,146 yards with two touching expectations. He made his first pro Bowl and, with his current agreement that expired soon, had a strong occasion for a new lucrative contract.
He got it this offseason. And where was he when he learned about it? Golf course.
“I had some missed calls from my agents and I was like, oh man, something is probably getting hot,” McBride said, the close end of Arizona Cardinals and the visitor this week Podcast Subpar of Golf. “And I’m just there with a couple of my teammates playing golf just enjoying the day.”
McBride, 25, signed an additional $ 76 million over four years, with $ 43 million guaranteed. His novice deal was set to expire at the end of next season.
“I’m there in the 10th hole trying to finish a round after I just discovered that I made this big deal, so it was exciting but it was fun,” McBRIDE said. “I’m like, when that girl chair turns back. Get everything you want – I’ll take care of her.” (Laughter))
The agreement, which was announced on April 3, made McBRIDE the highest wage end in NFL history.
“Crazy is crazy. Surreal Surreal, just everything I have gone through, all the hard work,” he said. “If you had told me three years ago, or five years ago I would have been with higher salary (close end). I probably would never have trusted you.”
Although the title “Higher Pay” was short -lived. The close end of San Francisco 49ers George Kittle claimed him with his four -year extension, $ 76.4 million signed this week.
