Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold was savaged by Roy Keane for his poor defending during the 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Anfield.
The Reds were held to a 2-2 draw at Anfield by Ruben Amorim’s side in what was a thrilling game. Although the first half was relatively quiet, United did well to contain an in-form Liverpool, while creating several dangerous chances on the counter.
The second half was a more open contest with plenty of chances at each end. The visitors took the lead in the 52nd minute through Lisandro Martinez who crashed the ball into the roof of the net after being played by Bruno Fernandes. Trent was guilty of the goal by Martinez, who gave the ball initially in the build-up.
Cody Gakpo equalized almost immediately afterwards, scoring with a superb finish after embarrassing De Ligt with a silky touch. And the Reds turned the game on its head in the 70th minute, with Salah scoring from the spot to give the home side a 2-1 lead.
It looked like the Reds were going to win the game, but the Red Devils attacked again from the left, with Trent offside, Garnacho’s cross found Amad Diallo who finished past Allison from close range to equalize .
Roy Keane criticizes Trent Alexander-Arnold’s performance
Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has been tip to go the club at the end of the season, had a poor run of form, with most of United’s chances in both halves coming from their side. Apart from his role in conceding goals, he was caught several times in the first half.
Speaking at half-time on Sky Sports, Roy Keane didn’t mince words to highlight the Liverpool right-back.
He said (quote via The Mirror):
“Trent Alexander-Arnold has been everywhere defensively. His defense has been schoolboy stuff. He has to do better.”
“They talk about him go to Real Madrid. The way he is defending will go to Tranmere Rovers after this. He has to do better.”
