Trent Alexander-Arnold achieves impressive goal contribution milestone for Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold set up his 100th goal for Liverpool with an assist for the team 3-0 win at Bournemouth Saturday afternoon

The 25-year-old is known for his attacking quality from the right-back, creating great chances for his Red team-mates previously under Jurgen Klopp and now under new manager Arne Slot.

Alexander-Arnold became the most assisted defender in Premier League history earlier this year when his corner was headed in by Diogo Jota in a 3-1 win over Burnley in February. That moved him above team-mate Andy Robertson in the assist charts, but Liverpool’s most recent victory has helped the England international achieve another impressive feat.

The Premier League and the Champions League winner now has 100 goals for Liverpool, having set up Luis Diaz’s second goal on Saturday with a determined run to the edge of the box before the Colombian finished. He achieved the milestone in his 316th appearance for the Anfield outfit, with only Steven Gerrard (92) and Mohamed Salah (72) registering more Premier League assists for Liverpool.

In addition to his 81 assists, Alexander-Arnold also has 19 goals, with his best scoring seasons coming in 2019/20 and 2022/23 with four in each. However, he has yet to hit the back of the net this term, instead helping the Merseyside club win four of their opening five league games.

Alexander-Arnold was a scapegoat for criticism during England’s run to the Euro 2024 finals, having been deployed in midfield by Gareth Southgate after impressing under Klopp.

However, he has returned to a more regular right-back role at the start of 2024/25, evoking his trademark deliveries from wide to dangerous effect.

It could be in action when Liverpool play next They begin their defense of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night at Anfield when West Ham United make the trip from London for their third round clash.
