What exactly happened at the Australian camp?
Best Aussie pacer Josh Hazlewood He seemed disappointed with the batting performance in the Perth Test against India and when asked to share his thoughts on it, he said, “You’d probably have to ask one of the batsmen that question.”
The words sparked speculation of a rift in Australia’s dressing room with the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman. Adam Gilchrist said that there is a division between batsmen and bowlers in the team.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan has suggested there is internal tension in the Australian camp and expressed shock at comments made by Josh Hazlewood.
Recently, Test pilot Pat Cummins and pace spearhead Mitchell Starc also fielded questions about the rift in the dressing room and they rubbished all the rumours.
Speaking to 7news, Head said they had a poor week in Test cricket as they suffered a humiliating 295-run loss to India.
However, Travis Head denied the crack claims, saying ‘people picked bones from a comment’. He added that the players sat together after the first Test.
“I think (people) picked bones from the comment on the back of a poor week, which is good. All the guys were together last night, nothing changed as a group,” Head told 7NEWS.
“We stuck together, had a good chat as always, win or draw. It is a very level group. There was definitely a lot of frustration in the room, but there was no faction,” he said.
We traditionally play pink ball well there and it looks like we’re going to have to – Travis Head
Second Test of two matches series It will be a pink ball day-night Test between India and Australia starting on December 6 in Adelaide.
Travis Head said they have played very well in the pink ball Tests but will have to be at their best against India in the upcoming Test to get a win and tie the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 1-1.
“We traditionally play the pink ball well there and it looks like we will have to. There is nothing to hide behind it, we have to play better. Nothing is guaranteed in this game, but if we work hard, there is no reason not to turn it over.”
