It is a Master’s gift READY as elusive as a ticket: a direct flight IN Augusta, Ga.
But maybe not anymore.
With a few months until the start of Masters 2025, Delta Airlines announces its largest ever tour-week service at Augusta Regional Airport. Delta, an Atlanta-based company that serves as one of the Masters’ “official partners,” will increase seating capacity at Augusta during the first major week of golf by 15 percent in 2025, increasing the number of daily seats that fly to the event in 1900.
Masters regulars know all too well the pain of traveling to Augusta. For most across the United States, the easiest way to get to Augusta is to fly into the main international airport in Atlanta and then make the 2.5 hour drive to Augusta. Other more convenient options include Columbia, SC Still, none of the options beat the convenience flying to Augustaa small regional airport located just minutes from the front entrance to the golf course.
“As Delta celebrates its centennial, we are proud to welcome Masters customers to our home state of Georgia for the iconic Masters Tournament,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s SVP of network programming in a release announcing the expanded service. “With new service from Minneapolis and White Plains, and increased frequency from LaGuardia, we’re making it easier than ever to connect to this world-famous event.”
Delta’s new schedule will include a daily direct flight from Minneapolis St. Paul, Detroit and Boston; eight daily flights from Atlanta; two daily flights from New York-LaGuardia and one flight each in rotation on Wednesday, Friday and Monday from Westchester, Washington DC-Reagan, Austin and New York-Kennedy. According to the airline, the new schedule will put 215 destinations within one stop of a direct flight to Augusta.
The news marks the second time in the past two years that Delta has expanded its service to Augusta for the week of the tournament, a decision that has been eagerly awaited by the tens of thousands of golf fans who make the trip to Augusta each April. While the access ultimately benefits only about 20,000 visitors, far less than the total number of visitors during the week of the tournament, it greatly expands the flexibility of those hoping to make it to the event.
The 2025 Masters will be contested at Augusta National Golf Club from April 9-13, 2025.
