Tottenham vs Chelsea: Preview, Predictions and Lineups

Chelsea will make the trip across London on Sunday as they lock horns with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues scored four in their last trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a hat-trick from Nicolas Jackson defeating nine-man Spurs. This was their fourth win in their last five visits away from home and Enzo Maresca’s favorites to claim another triumph on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea go into the weekend clash in fine form, having won all four outings since the international break in November. Premier League wins over Leicester City, Aston Villa and Southampton have seen the Blues close the gap on league leaders Liverpool to seven points. With the Merseyside derby postponed this weekendthey can put pressure on the reds.

Tottenham showed their quality in a thrashing of Manchester City several weeks ago, but have since suffered a characteristic rough patch. Draws with Roma and Fulham at home were followed by a hugely underwhelming defeat at Bournemouth in midweek. Ange Postecoglou begins to face the backlash from the club’s supporters after another disappointing run.

here it is 90 minutes guide to sunday’s london derby.

Tottenham He suffered another defensive injury blow on Thursday evening as Ben Davies withdrew in the second half with the back of his leg. The Welsh defender, who had been deputizing for the injured Micky van de Ven, will not be available this weekend.

In better news, there’s a chance Cristian Romero will be back in the lineup this weekend. Postecoglou has confirmed that the Argentine defender has returned to training with the team and could be involved against Chelsea in some capacity, along with Davies. injury perhaps hastening his return.

Guglielmo Vicario is still missing in goal and will be replaced by veteran Fraser Forster, while Rodrigo Bentancur continues to serve his seven-game national ban. Wilson Odobert, Richarlison and Mikey Moore are also out.

Tottenham predicted line-up against Chelsea (4-3-3): Forster; Porro, Romero, Dragusin, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bissouma, Sarr; Johnson, Solanke, Son.

Wesley Fofana - Footballer

Chelsea they have a relatively clean bill of health ahead of Sunday’s derby, although three players are currently out with hamstring problems. Youngster Omari Kellyman has been joined in the treatment room by defensive duo Reece James and Wesley Fofana in recent weeks.

Mykhailo Mudryk will be unavailable on Sunday due to illness, but the rest of Chelsea’s squad is set to feature. With games fast and intense for the Blues, Maresca can once again rotate into Spurs.

Nicolas Jackson received the night off during the 5-1 win at Southampton and while his deputy Christopher Nkunku impressed, the Senegalese should return to the starting line-up after his incredible start to the campaign.

On the other hand, Robert Sanchez should return to the XI after Maresca declared he was the number one during his pre-match press conference and Levi Colwill will also return to the back.

Predicted Chelsea v Tottenham line-up (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; Gust, Tosin, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernández; Madueke, Palmer, Neto; Jackson.

Tottenham often save their best performances for the big occasion, but injuries and a growing apathy in north London make Chelsea firm favorites this weekend. The Blues are relentless goalscorers under Maresca and could punish a defense that is light on personnel.

Spurs always boast their own attacking threat and are also likely to trouble a Chelsea defense that often takes big risks. However, confidence is not high for Spurs after three disappointing results and their London rivals are ready to take advantage.

Prediction: Tottenham 1-3 Chelsea
